Q1.  How is the lesson structured?

Lessons are 40 mins with a combination of reading, writing and speaking.
 

Q2. How will your child learn?

Using Oxford English Phonics series

Print outs to learn writing, sounds, and vocabulary.

Conversation through greetings, and games - such as Uno, Connect 4, Guess Who?

Q3.  What is my teaching style?
I like to focus on progress.  Some days the progress is small, and other days it is a bigger step forward.  Language learning is about showing up week after week, year after year, enjoying how you are learning, and doing your best.  Of the 1.5 billion people in the world who can speak English, less than 25% are native speakers - English is about communication and not perfection.

There are no “Wrong” answers in my class, only learning.

Q5.  My child doesn:t excel at school, will English be too difficult?

Classes are 1:1 - so the speed of the lesson is tailored to the needs of the child.  Also, in my experience, the ability to learn a language is linked more heavily to being curious about things, rather than purely academic ability.  I assist in some elementary schools, and it is often the child who finds it hard to sit still and not shout out answers that does well in English.  Please come for a trial lesson, and let`s see if your child has a desire to learn English!

Q6.  How about Eiken?

As children develop their English, grammar points will be introduced, and I will provide targeted support for those children interested in working towards Eiken Exams.

Q7.  What does it cost?

For the Aoshima based beginner, 2,000円 per class.

I want to keep the costs as accessible as possible, so for that reason, the admin side is very simple.

Pay monthly in cash using envelope system - write on the envelope which dates you will be attending for the month and include the cash.

Material / admin fee of 2,000 yen per year.

The lessons are set up on the basis that your child will attend on a regular basis over an extended period of time.  

​Occasionally, holidays, special events etc will mean that you are unable to attend on a particular week, but this should be the exception.. There are no make up classes.

When a child is sick, please let me know as soon as you can.  There is no lesson fee for sickness, and you would just adjust the fee in the envelope for the following month.

Q8.  Which time slots are available?

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

15:00-15:40, 15:45-16:25, 16:30-17:10, 17:15-17:55

Q9.  Do you offer other English lessons?

At the moment, I am setting up child focussed classes, additional classes may be rolled out in the future, but if you have a specific request - please don`t hesitate to email me.
